I once heard the phrase "If you're going to make a film, take inspiration from anywhere, but not from films."
The artist was giving a lesson on how to make things unique.
That phrase occupied a large space in my mind, although I know it only makes sense for art, and not only with that method can unique things be made.
When visualizing my [old] website, of course I looked for references from other websites, mainly Programatório (I'm a big fan). But I couldn't help but bring inspiration from cinema and music.
More precisely, from 1 film and 1 musical genre.
The film is "Pi" by Darren Aronofsky, made in 1998 (there's even a gif of the film in the initial background of the site), and the musical genre is Techno, which is one of my favorite genres. An interesting fact is that the musical theme of the 1998 film Pi is Techno. One of the many reasons why I like the film so much.
Techno music is characterized by being full of futuristic elements, and the film Pi is a psychological thriller from the last century. In the end, these inspirations ended up defining the feeling of the website: a mix of technological futurism and an old-school vibe.
For a while I was proud of the site, because I managed to bring to life through it the vision I had. But now I don't feel so comfortable with it anymore, because I've changed. Now I want to do something more modern, cleaner, but maintaining the futuristic-technological aesthetic, still bringing the same inspirations, but this time not so old-school.
That's why I'm working on a new version.
This post is to "celebrate" the current [old] site and thank it. It will remain online and in my portfolio, even after the new version.
